Continuing our efforts to help promote autistic awareness month, we thought it was important to separate from the facts and figures that can surround the disorder and look at a real-life human story that we can connect to on an emotional level.
It’s very easy to get wrapped up in the data and statistics about a disorder. Sometimes it’s good to connect these big ideas and concepts of a disorder with a real-life case of how living with Autism differs. We found the following video quite touching about the relationship a young man has with his older brother with Autism. Instead of having an attitude of struggle or victimhood, these boys seem to share a special bond and embrace the challenges of the disorder while discussing the personality traits that his Austistic brother had that make him a great friend.
