FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our participants struggle with issues ranging from Borderline Personality Disorder, Borderline Traits and Co-Occurring conditions, Bipolar Disorder, Failure to Launch, Asperger’s Syndrome and dual diagnoses to depression, anxiety addictions and learning disabilities.

Our programs are highly individualized. The average length of stay for most however is 8-10 months in our residential program. For OPI Outpatient services can last up to a year or more, as needed.

OPI Residential has on average between 25 to 30 young men and women. OPI Outpatient can accommodate additional participants for a total average of 40 to 45 young adults in the OPI Program.

All OPI participants live in secured,, luxury apartments located approximately one mile from the office where they attend their daily programming. These apartments are furnished and include their own washer and dryer. The apartment complex, in Woodland Hills, CA includes dual swimming pools and a state-of-the-art workout room, as well as outdoor entertainment spaces including BBQ’s.. Our OPI offices are a short drive away. Participants move between both locations via our shuttle services.

Independent cooking and shopping for food is part of the growing process for many. Participants work directly with staff to write up grocery shopping lists and everyone pitches in at mealtime. We include a supervised and guided mandatory cooking class in our programs to help participants familiarize themselves with cooking at a basic level, among other Life Skills Training.

Our participants range in age from 17 to 28. Our average age is 22 years old.

We encourage parents to refrain from visiting during the first 30 days of treatment. Beyond that it’s best to be in contact with the participants therapist/case manager regarding when it would be appropriate to visit. Participants are required to have a cell phone so parents are able to keep in touch.

There are two local airports both about 25 miles away however the Bob Hope Airport (Burbank) is smaller and while it generally has less traffic to get to and from our offices, it has a smaller range of flight options.

OPI is private pay and is not in network with any insurance companies. We do provide complimentary billing and claims submission. Reimbursement varies by family/policy. OPI’s Utilization Review Department will request authorization from each family’s insurance provider. Claims will be submitted in 30 day increments by the end of the first week following when services are provided. Families have received reimbursement from insurance for all levels of care (residential treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient therapy). To be clear, insurance is for reimbursement purposes only. OPI is out-of-network with all insurance providers. Families will be responsible to pay for all program costs as outlined in the Enrollment Agreements/Financial Contract. Insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed and may take 90-120 days to be received if services are authorized. Authorization is not a guarantee of payment and all claims are subject to review at the time they are received.
