OPI Living Program Musical Jam Session

OPI Jam Nights Allow Young Adults to Explore Musical Talents and Self-Expression

OPI Living Program Musical Jam SessionEvery week, young adults attending OPI Living Programs have the opportunity to get in touch with their inner musician during “jam sessions” at a local Woodland Hills, CA music studio, through the Department of Extracurricular Activities. This department organizes fun events that allow participants to try out new social and creative opportunities, with the intention to connect them with newfound passions of self-expression, including music.

A variety of instruments and equipment are provided during the jam sessions to help individuals explore the many different creative outlets available in the world of music. Jam session coordinator Mike Klinedinst says:

“Jam sessions are without a doubt, the highlight of my work week. It is a true joy to watch the participants grow their musical gifts while developing communication skills and self-confidence! I have enjoyed getting to know each of the participants who attend jam session!”

OPI recently hosted an open “Jam Night” for current program participant musicians to showcase their work and perform in front of a live audience. OPI Living community members including staff, friends, family members and fellow participants were invited to support the group and were impressed with their performance.

One performer expressed, “This has been an awesome experience! It’s been fun working and collaborating with other great musicians.”

OPI is looking forward to seeing what the current group of musically inclined participants is working on for their next community Jam Night performance!
