OPI Director of Educational Services Wins Leadership Training Scholarship

Heather Perrier, Director of Educational Services at The Optimum Performance Institute (OPI), was awarded a scholarship to attend Generation Waking Up’s leadership training seminar at The Esalen Institute, January 31 to February 3, 2013.

The four-day training was developed for young change-makers, educators and community leaders to learn presentation skills, group facilitation techniques and project coordination that supports personal, interpersonal and systemic transformation. As the OPI representative, Heather connected, collaborated and shared knowledge with other leaders from a broad range of backgrounds and fields.

A special focus of the seminar was a project called I.AM.LIFE that is working to build a connection between Western youth, Amazonia and its indigenous people.

Heather said, “The breadth and depth of what I experienced can be used in so many ways, such as working with youth in a setting like OPI to foster change in each individual as well as within the program itself. It was a valuable experience that will definitely enhance my approach to education and provide new opportunities for OPI.”
