<\/a>With the New Year now upon us everyone has resolutions on the mind, and the most popular of all is to get in better shape. Gyms all over the country get tons of new members coming in, diets are some of the most popular searches online, and people are determined to whip their bodies into shape starting January 1st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n We all know that exercise is the key to that sculpted physique, but exercise also offers so many benefits to one\u2019s mental health.<\/p>\n Research has shown that exercise:<\/p>\n Here at OPI, we know the importance of leading an active lifestyle. It is a great way to meet new people and foster connections. Exercise gives you a moment to step back from your hectic daily life<\/a> \u2013 a chance to focus on yourself and your well-being. What\u2019s more, taking part in an activity that you really enjoy gives you the opportunity to set and achieve goals<\/a>, as well as gives you a sense of purpose and accomplishment.<\/p>\n What is often lost on people, though, is that you do not need fancy exercise machines or high priced gym memberships to get all of these wonderful benefits. There are so many ways to get out there and get active!<\/p>\n No two people are alike, so there is no right or wrong way to live a healthier lifestyle. Our Extracurricular and Activities Department helps to find our participants activities they have or will enjoy. We offer several clubs in-house; including martial arts, running, hiking, tennis, surfing, and yoga, to help participants get their feet wet. We also help establish connections in the community by assisting participants in finding their passion<\/a>, whether it be personal training, indoor rock climbing, Pilates lessons, Zumba classes, or simply finding beautiful trails to walk.<\/p>\n Our focus is on the person, and we are here to do everything we can to support you on your journey towards better habits, not just for the new year, but for life.<\/p>\n By Sareen Hagopian\n
