OPI Outpatient

As young adults enter OPI Outpatient they are truly on the path to lasting independence. We help them find their own apartment nearby (they often share with another participant who is at a similar stage). They are responsible for their own room and board while still participating in all OPI services. They still have their own therapist/case manager and maintain all relationships that they have developed. Living independently in their own apartment, participants are expected to manage their lives, their money, their jobs and/or education. They have regular check-ins and resources to consult when new challenges or problems arise.

Intensive Outpatient Day Treatment Program (IOP) services are available to young adults through individual and group therapy that are provided along with support in areas such as education, career development and volunteer, as well as recreational opportunities. This program allows for intensive therapeutic experiences during the day while allowing participants to spend evenings at home.

Our intensive outpatient participants may be challenged by social, emotional, or developmental disorders. They may have depression or anxiety disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, or substance abuse issues. What all of them share is a desire to explore their own identity and find their own individual life path.

Each customized, tailor-made program at OPI provides services individually or in “packages” in increments of two, three, or five day a week options, depending upon the participant’s needs.

• Independent Lifestyle
• Individual Therapy
• Individual Psychiatry
• Group Therapy
• Individual Life Coaching
• Career, Education, and Recreation Counseling

The OPI Outpatient program is also a solution for young adults not requiring residential care. Those young men and women who need the system of checks and balances that OPI Outpatient provides can enter directly into this phase of treatment. They are able to pursue and/or maintain the independent lifestyle they’re seeking, while still having therapeutic, group, and lifestyle support as needed.

Young adults considering the IOP/Day Treatment Program:

Together with your OPI therapist, you will carefully select those groups and activities that are in alignment with your goals and interests. Your individualized experience will take into account the issues you are facing and the strategies and approaches that will be most effective for your own personal recovery. You have a voice in constructing the program that is the best fit for you.

Unlike other programs, our IOP Day Treatment does not consist of a rigid schedule of activities that all participants across the board must follow together. We understand that there are some groups and activities offered that may not be interesting to you or relevant to your personal goals (i.e., you do not need to sit through groups on addiction or eating disorders if you do not suffer from these conditions).

In addition to therapeutic groups that make sense for your situation, we also offer a myriad of opportunities to engage in positive, empowering extracurricular activities that appeal to you. You may also integrate Life Coaching, Educational Services, and Career Services (including help discovering a career path that takes into account your passions, aspirations, and goals) into your IOP Day Treatment weekly schedule.
