OPI Employment Matters Pinterest Board

Very Pinteresting

pinterestcaptureThe Career and Volunteer Department at the Optimum Performance Institute just became more pinteresting! We would like to announce our new Pinterest page, Employment Matters, where we are saving awesome resources, useful tips, colorful infographics, and other interesting pins related to all things related to college majors, specific jobs, volunteer organizations and career paths. For those of you who are not yet pinning, here are some tips on what it is and how to get started.

Pinterest is virtual bulletin board where you can pin anything you find online to save for later. It eliminates the need to print out images and ideas, write down websites, email links to yourself, and dog-ear magazine pages.

Various boards can be created to better organize and categorize pins. The Employment Matters board has multiples boards including Resume, Choose your Own Adventure, and Workplace Wellness, to name a few. Pinterest is great for sharing, discovering and interacting with a wide variety of people online and we hope that you get Pinspired!

How to get started:

Create an account

  1. Go to the Pinterest homepage at www.pinterest.com.
  2. The option to sign up with email or Facebook will appear.
  3. Log in, create a password, and verify your email.
  4. A brief tutorial will guide you through the basics and you can start pinning!

Choose a username and password. If you choose to use an email address, make sure to wait for an email to confirm. Once you confirm, you can start pinning!

How to pin:

1. Install pin-it button to browser. This allows you to pin any image which will direct you back to the page of origin. To install, go to your account and hover above “About”, click on “Pin It Button”, and follows the directions to drag to the toolbar.

2. If you prefer not to install the pin-it button, you can simply copy and paste links from any site, and it will search for any photos on that page of which you can choose to pin.

3. You can upload photos from your computer.

Pinterest offers suggestions to get you started and there are main categories that you can use to start building your boards. You can also use the repin button if you see something someone else has pinned or from boards you follow. There is also the option to like the pin and comment on it.

We constantly update our workshops and have already starting pinning our resources so participants have easy access online. Check out our page and start following our boards http://www.pinterest.com/opicareervol/
