OPI Life Coach Presents at Junior Achievement of Southern California Conference

Jaime L.K. Jackson, Life Coach for the Optimum Performance Institute (OPI), was invited to speak at the Connecting to Success Conference for Junior Achievement of Southern California on Friday, October 25, 2013. She shares her experience here.

In October, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with some highly motivated high school juniors from the Conejo Valley at the Connecting to Success Conference for Junior Achievement of Southern California.

Junior Achievement is a nationwide organization that helps “inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.” Students from Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and Westlake High Schools came to explore different concepts in business such as “How to Communicate your Value,” “Ethics in the Workplace” and “Working in Teams.”

As a Life Coach at OPI, I was asked to share my experiences of helping young adults understand what their strengths and attributes are and how they can parlay that into a successful career. I explained how life coaching is a great opportunity to identify the assets you already possess and to cultivate the ones you want. Working with a life coach can help you take something you may see as a negative and turn it into a positive, marketable skill set. For example, you can learn to transform “stubborn” into “determined” as one way to capitalize on your hidden strengths.

It was my honor to speak among accomplished business people from various organizations throughout Los Angeles and share how young people can evolve into their best selves.
