LinkedIn Improvements and Changes for 2015

linkedin 2015 improvements changes updates careerLinkedIn has become a go-to resource in our Department of Career and Volunteer for online resumes, networking, professional development, and even job searches — especially since a LinkedIn profile may be the first thing people stumble upon when researching a job candidate online. During OPI’s career workshop, participants are introduced to LinkedIn and have the opportunity to work on their profiles with in-office support

While recently exploring LinkedIn’s official blog, we learned about some improvements for the upcoming year that will definitely benefit LinkedIn members:

  • Profile editing is now more simplified. Each individual section can now be edited instead of selecting “edit” each time.
  • You can use the “View profile” button on the top of the profile to see how others see your profile.
  • Optional categories like volunteer work, certifications, and more were added to the front to make it easier to add to your profile.

We also found a free LinkedIn Assessment from Wayne Breitbarth at Power Formula to ensure that your LinkedIn profile is ready for the new year. The twenty questions have a point value that once calculated you can assess to see where your LinkedIn account needs adjustments.
