Just like diagnosing Borderline Personality Disorder has a heavy skew towards females, Autism has a very heavy male diagnosis tendency. Whenever a disorder, or even disease, has a diagnosis bias it often becomes quite difficult for people who don’t fit into the classic box to cope with their newfound diagnosis.
We found a great piece from July of 2015 that dives deep into the story of a mother whose daughter was diagnosed with Autism. This short video just shy of 3 minutes long goes over what the challenges a mother faced after having her daughter diagnoses with autism, the resources she wished she had at her disposal and how she and her family dealt with the diagnosis.
