OPI Hosts Film Maker

May 7, 2008

A 28-year-old film-maker, Aaron Rockett, discussed his newest documentary “The Fixer: Afghanistan Behind the Scenes” after showing it to OPI staff and participants, recently.

The 45-minute film is about the 3 months Rockett spent in Kabul trailing a BBC journalist and a local assistant they called “The Fixer” because he did everything from keeping them safe to finding food.

“The Fixer” premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and has been shown at many independent film festivals since then.

Several students at OPI are interested in film and the QA session with Rockett lasted over an hour. He also discussed his experiences as associate producer of a documentary about the first woman to run for president of Afghanistan.

OPI is a highly individualized therapeutic and educational residential program for young adults ages 17-25. For further information contact Anne LaRiviere, Director of Admissions, (888) 558-0617.
