OPI’s Outpatient Services Program offers a unique slate of highly individualized services for young adults ages 17-28 in the Greater Los Angeles area who are facing challenges transitioning into young adulthood. It provides many of the services that are found in our highly individualized residential, therapeutic and educational program.
The focus is to help young men and women increase their self esteem and achieve a healthy balance in their lives, become confident and competent members of society and find their place in the world.
OPI’s Outpatient Services Program focuses on teaching Young Adults valuable skills in:
- Career Development
- Education
- Socialization
- Independent Living Through One-to-One Coaching to Improve Independent Living Skills
- Coping with Computer Addiction
Our Outpatient Participants may be challenged by social, emotional, or developmental disorders. They may have anxiety, depression or anxiety disorders or Asperger’s Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder or Substance Abuse issues.
What all of them share is a desire to explore their own identity and find their own individual life path.
CAREER:
OPI’s Department of Career Services offers Outpatients six career – related workshops designed to teach valuable skills for job seekers. In each two-hour session Participants practice exercises on developing a professional image, resume writing, interviewing skills and on-the-job success tips.
EDUCATION:
OPI’s Department of Education offers workshops for Outpatients that explore those intellectual, psychological, social and physical factors that impact lifelong learning, well being and achievement.
Participants seeking to finish high school or pursue a higher education learn self-motivation, self-efficacy, critical- thinking and effective study strategies among other relevant subjects.
SOCIALIZATON:
Many OPI Outpatients participate in the “In Vivo” social skills groups that provide a safe environment for learning and practicing social skills and for forming and improving healthy relationships.
These groups focus on developing positive communication. Participants learn to recognize verbal and non verbal cues and they practice how to initiate and maintain relationships. We take our Outpatient Participants into the community for real life social experiences in which they can then apply their newfound skills.
LIFE COACHING:
OPI’s popular Life Coaching program for Outpatients teaches Participants how to set goals, track progress, and achieve a system of accountability. Through a series of workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions, our Outpatient Participants learn to utilize independent living skills and goal setting in their everyday lives. Essential workshop topics include Budgeting, Organizational Skills, and Nutrition & Physical Fitness.
WEB-BASED COMPTER ADDICTION:
OPI’s Computer Addiction services for young adults focus on web-based addictions from gambling to pornography.
By using an educational approach, Our Outpatient Participants learn how long hours on the computer affects their physiology, socialization, and mental states, just like any other addiction. They then learn the tools to free themselves from this addiction so that they can engage in healthier behavior.
JCAHO:
OPI is proud of our many participants who have succeeded here and have moved into society as independently functioning adults. We are pleased to offer our services to those in the local community looking to achieve the same results.
OPI received accreditation from The national Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) in July 2010 making it one of the first programs of its kind in the country to receive this prestigious status. Receiving JCAHO’s national accreditation is the highest level of achievement a healthcare organization can receive signifying its overall commitment to quality of care and services.
OPI’s New Outpatient Program:
The new Outpatient Services Program opened its doors to the local community on February 1, 2011 at OPI’s Woodland Hills facility. Males and females ages 17 – 28 can sign up for individual services or a package of services that work, hand in hand, to support each other.
