Why Choose OPI?

Every participant has their own case manager (therapist) who helps guide them toward an independent life. Depending on individual interests, a single day may consist of going to school or to a job, volunteering at an animal shelter or taking Taekwondo lessons. Among other activities, it also includes group and individual psychotherapy sessions, one-to-one life skills management training and medication management meetings with a psychiatrist.

Advanced Clinical Support

The overall OPI program is designed to provide the right level of structure and care needed for each participant. OPI’s three uniquely structured program levels give us the ability to identify the best immediate solution and allow room for change and growth over time.

Identifying and pursuing their own interests helps our participants see life‘s potential and begin to move forward. Through life coaching sessions and specialization, we help clients develop persistence and resilience: persistence to set and meet goals, and resilience to persevere when life gets hard.

Highly Customized and Individualized Programming

Being located in LA gives our participants access to a vast array of community resources including a multitude of colleges,  universities, music schools, acting programs, fashion and culinary institutes, employment opportunities, internships, and recreational and vocational opportunities.

"I never thought I could change and that things could get better. For the first time in my life, there is now light at the end of the tunnel."

Sandra C.

"This is the best decision ever. I can feel it, I can see it, there is a list of my own goals, and you know, this time I know I am not going to the hospital again and putting my life on hold. You coached me how to go to my goals and dreams."

 - Dora V.

"We can't thank you enough for taking a really hard (and honestly sometimes we worried impossible) case and turning her around. I believe you have saved her life and we just want you to know how immeasurably grateful we are for all your hard work."

Because bipolar disorder is primarily a biological and neurochemical imbalance, we involve experienced psychiatrists in every step of the treatment process. When a participant enrolls at OPI, we do a rigorous assessment that includes genetic testing. This helps the psychiatrist select the appropriate medication and dosage for each individual.

After the initial assessment, our psychiatrist monitors OPI participants to watch the effects of current medications and determine if dosage or prescription adjustments are needed. Because our residential team provides daily support, they can give constant feedback about side effects that might not be noticed in outpatient settings.

Many of those living with BPD develop negative coping skills, such as damaging thought patterns, harmful habits and behaviors, and destructive emotions. In addition to weekly individual, family, and group therapy sessions, each participant works with a life coach to replace negative coping habits with positive ones. Together they focus on things like sleep, hygiene, and applying new therapeutic skills in the real world.

At OPI we believe you are more than your diagnosis, and we want you to rediscover your passions while healing in a real-world environment. We encourage you to find employment, attend college courses, and volunteer in the community. At OPI, we support you every step of the way to ensure you achieve lasting independence and personal freedom.
