Admission Process

The OPI Admission Process

  1. The parent/sponsor, educational consultant/referring professional and/or prospective participant calls the OPI Director of Admissions, Anne LaRiviere, at (888) 558-0617 to learn more about OPI and discuss whether OPI and the prospective participant could be an appropriate match.
  2. Packets of information about OPI are mailed to the parent/sponsor, educational consultant/referring professional, and prospective participant (if appropriate).
  3. OPI gets permission and consent to consult with appropriate parties to further determine compatibility. This could mean consultations with therapists, educational consultants, psychiatrists, etc.
  4. Appropriate testing information, treatment summaries, educational transcripts, or therapists reports are sent to OPI.
  5. A possible Site visit is arranged and/or a phone interview is conducted with prospective participant. During the visit you will meet administration and staff and visit the apartments. Prospective participants go to lunch (if possible) with current participants and staff.
  6. OPI sends Admission Packet to the family. The packet includes all forms that need to be signed before being admitted to OPI including the "Participant's Questionaire" which the prospective participant fills out.
  7. An admission date is set.
