Individual Chemical Dependency Services (if appropriate)
What distinguishes OPI is that we want each Participant to truly appreciate and embrace sobriety and acknowledge that sobriety is an essential piece in their ability to succeed in their professional as well as their personal and recreational goals.
-
Individual sessions with a CD Counselor (4 per month)
-
Group session with CD Counselor (4 per month)
-
CD social outings, confirming there is fun to be had without the use of substances (4 per month).
-
Participants struggling with Chemical Dependency meet with our Director to devise an individual plan that will foster sobriety. This is done through many formats but most important is the active commitment of the Participant to create a set of patterns and support that will allow him/her to meet their commitment to continued sobriety.
-
We believe there are many young people who, for many reasons, are unable to embrace the 12-step philosophy. For those who do, we drive Participants to 12-step meetings throughout the community to explore issues ranging from alcohol/drug abuse and sexual addition to eating disorders (as many as needed/requested).
-
All Participants in the CD Program get random urine drug testing.
-

-
Life Skills Training
-
Some OPI Participants need to learn life skills in order to move forward in the real world. At OPI we teach them how to balance a check book, maintain a budget, maintain a schedule, use local transportation services, maintain an apartment, cook and much, much more.
-
Transportation and Scheduling Services
-
We transport our Participants everywhere within 20 miles of our offices and help them schedule their daily activities.
-
Participants who have reached the Developmental Milestones they—and OPI—have set, may bring their own car to OPI with the approval of parents/sponsors and the OPI Treatment Team.
-
Family Involvement
-
Families are in regular communication (often weekly) with their Young Adult’s therapist who serves as the case manager. The objective is to transform family communication with a more mature, sensitive and responsible young adult which reduces anxiety and creates greater support for all parties.
-
Therapists provide feedback and updates on the Participant’s progress and also provide support to parents.
-
Participants re-establish the bridge of communication they used to have with each other that allows for greater acceptance as well as tolerance and clarification of differences and shared values.
Services requiring additional fees are first discussed with Parents/Sponsors. This could include charges by third party providers (colleges, books), additional OPI therapeutic Services (extra psychiatric or psychotherapy sessions, life coaching sessions, extra drug tests, etc.), special OPI events and OPI’s Adventure Travel Program (see below). Parents/sponsors provide their Young Adult with a weekly allowance.
